Ultrasound diagnosis of Sarcopenia

Sarcopenia means loss of muscle mass, strength and function associated with aging. In the whole world, the elderly formally entered the aging society , and the patients with sarcopenia were high-risk groups in the fall. There are more than 20% of the elderly suffered moderate injuries due to falls. As we know the detection of muscle mass is the key to the determination of sarcopenia. So how do we know about muscle quality? Currently, BIA and DXA are mainly used in clinical practice. BIA is portable but less accurate and the following DXA scans determine body composition by passing low-radiation x-ray beams through tissues, with the varying energy absorption allowing the practitioner to determine both tissue type and quantity. DXA is highly accurate and can diagnose bone density at the same time, but it is limited to hospital testing. So we hope to develop a safe, fast, cheap, and highly popular ultrasound muscle mass measurement system. Clinical Trials
